Business Multi-line - The step before ISDN2?

Not many people know about multi lines, they either jump straight to an ISDN2 or struggle along with one business phone line. Just hang on; there is a stepping stone between the two.

Business multi lines have some fantastic benefits without the expensive set up cost. No phone system needed, no expensive line upgrades needed.

Any business phone line can be upgraded to a multi line as long as there are no features (for example – business broadband) used on that particular business phone line. The benefits are you keep the same number, but are able to make and receive more than one call at a time – just like an ISDN2. You can keep adding additional lines as and when you are ready. This is ideal if you have more than one member of staff answering your customers’ calls. This set up works very well if you make and receive a high number of calls. The last thing you want to do is miss a sale due to being on the phone and leaving your line engaged for a long period of time, but you do not want to advertise several numbers. Your business telephone number will be displayed on your customer’s phone regardless of the business phone line you call from.

No phone system is needed; just two basic handsets. A multi line is basically an exact copy of your existing business phone line. So when you are on the phone on line 1, a customer can still call the second business phone line (line 2).

Your business might have two business phone lines and you may use a call diversion when your main line is busy to divert it to the second line. This costs extra as you pay for the calls which are diverted. So in fact having a multi line could save you money.
